Fatty Liver Index (FLI) Calculator
Estimate your risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (MASLD) — the silent epidemic.
The Fatty Liver Index estimates the probability of fatty liver from four simple measurements. Fatty liver is the silent center of metabolic syndrome and often has no symptoms until advanced.

Formula
L = 0.953·ln(TG) + 0.139·BMI + 0.718·ln(GGT) + 0.053·waist − 15.745 FLI = (e^L / (1 + e^L)) × 100
How it is calculated
The FLI converts BMI, waist, triglycerides and GGT into a 0–100 score estimating the probability of fat in the liver.
Under 30, fatty liver is unlikely; 60 or above makes it probable. Between 30 and 59, an abdominal ultrasound is the logical next step.
Fatty liver is reversible early. The DiRECT trial and Roy Taylor showed clearing liver fat can even reverse type 2 diabetes.
Frequently asked questions
Is the FLI a diagnosis?
No, it is a screening estimate. A score of 60+ strongly suggests fatty liver and warrants imaging.
